Geriatric Services: Consultation services for patients
Treating Specialist:
Dr Tien Chu -Wollongong Medical Specialists – Consults Thursdays 4pm – 7pm
1. Elderly patients (>65years) with
- Dementia/Cognitive Impairment with or without behavioral issues.
- Falls/Recurrent falls
- Chronic pain
- Reduced mobility
- Frailty
- Multiple comorbidities/multiple chronic illnesses/ polypharmacy- undertake assessment, rationalise management and treatment, coordination with other specialties and GPs
- Psychogeriatric issues (depression, anxiety)
- Parkinsons disease/Parkinsons syndromes.
- Patients from residential care facilities with geriatric issues.
- Not coping at home needing residential aged care placement-assist and advise regarding the ACAT process
2. Patients with young onset dementia syndromes (<65)
